US Administration Threatens Harvard With Foreign Student Ban

The US administration has reportedly threatened to ban Harvard University from enrolling foreign students. The move comes after the prestigious institution recently refused to agree to the White House's sweeping list of demands. Kristi Noem, Secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security, has asked Harward for records on what she called the "illegal and violent" activities of its foreign student visa-holders.
"And if Harvard cannot verify it is in full compliance with its reporting requirements, the university will lose the privilege of enrolling foreign students," Noem said, as quoted by Reuters. Meanwhile, Noem also announced the termination of two DHS grants totalling more than $2.7 million to the institution, which has produced 162 Nobel Prize winners. A Harvard spokesperson reportedly said it was aware of Noem’s letter.
On Monday, Harvard rejected various demands that it said would cede control to the US government. Following that, the administration declared a $2.3 billion funding freeze. It is worth noting that Harvard is the first university to refuse to comply with Trump’s demands.
